Orientation Leaders (OLs) are essential to fulfilling the mission of Orientation programs, which is to aid new students and their parents in making a successful transition into the University community. OLs are charged with assisting with students' adjustment to college life and creating a positive and enriching process for every student. To this end, Orientation Leaders are expected to be diligent, dedicated, knowledgeable, and approachable. Orientation Leaders serve a term of one year (January to January) .

To be eligible, each candidate must have the following:

  • Undergraduate student who has or is enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours at UNLV and a 2.5 UNLV grade point average at the time of application and maintained throughout the position.
  • Students who apply before completing 12 hours may be hired on a conditional basis until final grades are posted.
  • Uphold the all aspects of the UNLV Student Conduct Code
  • Possess the following role model qualities: maturity, responsibility, initiative, motivation, flexibility, enthusiasm, integrity, and a good work ethic
  • Exhibit leadership potential, good interpersonal communication, and group presentation skills
  • Learn more about yourself and others and improve leadership and teamwork skills
  • Be able to work effectively with a diverse group of Orientation team members and to promote the benefits of diversity

Orientation Information New student orientation for the Spring 2008 semester will be held on January 17, 2008.

The best place to park for Orientation is in the Thomas and Mack parking lot. This parking lot is close to the location for most of the Orientation activities.
